For 5 Mondays from July 12-August 9, we'll take an innovative look at a different Jewish topic, presented by talented educators from across Philly.

This Week's Topic:  A Walking Tour of Jewish
With Simmi Hurwitz

Simmi Hurwitz has been doing walking tours of Jewish Philadelphia for quite a few years. After teaching fourth grade in the city, Simmi concentrated on her family until a grant brought her together with Ruth Schultz, and a business was born. Harry Boonin's retirement left Simmi "bi-toural" with his tour of the Jewish Quarter to be carried on, as well as the original colonial walk. Convincing people that Ben Franklin was Jewish is not really her objective- or true- but if you wind up with that feeling, who's to argue?
