This week's topic
Love, Sex, & the Bible: Eroticism in the Song of Songs
With Rabbi Avi Winokur
As mightily as the rabbis throughout the centuries have assigned spiritual meaning to the Song of Songs, at its core it is erotic poetry. What (deliciously at times, and oddly at others) does this tell us about Eros in ancient Israel?
Rabbi Winokur began his career as an attorney. After 8 years in practice in California, he decided to fulfill his dream of becoming a rabbi. A graduate and current Board member of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (Ordination, 1991), and a member of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association, Rabbi Winokur has been Rabbi at Society Hill Synagogue since 2001.
