Want to attend Shabbat morning services but not sure where to go? Nervous about walking into an unfamiliar service? Worried you won't know anyone?
Join us for this semester's third event in our Shabbat Hop series!
Once each month, we'll visit a different area synagogue as a group to experience their Shabbat morning services.
This month, join us at Society Hill Synagogue for services. All are welcome. Following services, a kiddush luncheon will be provided.
What to expect: Society Hill Synagogue Shabbat services are participation-oriented and are based in the Conservative liturgy, mostly in Hebrew. At Society Hill Synagogue, we believe in inclusion, embracing as many diverse approaches as possible. Our traditional yet relaxed Shabbat service includes a modified triennial Torah reading (in addition to Torah Study at 9am, prior to the service), an emphasis on congregational singing, and a dialogue in place of a sermon. On this date, however, expect a Multigenerational Shabbat service, shorter and containing more English, and employing expanded instrumentation and musical styles that appeal to all ages. For those who prefer a more traditional service, there is a lay led minyan parallel to the Multigenerational Shabbat service.
