Emily Gerstell (Social Chair) moved to Philly almost 4 years ago from NYC to pursue a PhD in English Literature at Penn. She grew up mostly in Washington, DC and Hong Kong and speaks fluent French and Mandarin. She loves meeting new people, planning events for the Grad Network, doing yoga, eating dim sum, and emailing people articles from the New York Times and New Yorker. Like any Jewish woman worth her salt, she always brings a sweater and a snack, just in case.

Alisa Rassin (Israel Chair) was born in Moscow, Russia, moved to Israel in 1991, and came to the US in 2007 after completing military service in the IDF. Back in Israel, she was part of an educational organization called Mashatzim that promoted Zionism, love of the land, camaraderie, and camping. Since moving the US, Alisa completed a BS in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at Penn State maincampus and is now a veterinary student (V'15) at UPenn's Vet School. She has a special interest in exotic animals such as chinchillas, ferrets, bird, and various reptiles and hopes one day to become an exotics/wildlife veterinarian. Deborah Shroder (Outdoor Chair) graduated from the University of Maryland in 2010 and is currently a PhD student in biophysics at Penn. In addition to planning hikes and other outdoor events for the Grad Network, she hosts couchsurfers on their visits to Philly, tries to garden on her fire escape, and is still searching for the perfect food to bring to Grad Network potlucks.

Molly Sinderbrand (Education chair) is in her second year as a philosophy PhD student at Penn. She graduated from Washington University in St Louis in 2009, and received her masters in a joint program from Utrecht University and Linkoping University. Molly grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and though she's lived many places, she will always be a cheesehead at heart. This year, she plans to bake many delicious desserts and breads for grad network potlucks, travel to Jersey to find (good) kosher wines, and do everything she can to organize some awesome Shabbats. She'd love to hear your ideas!
