David’s Harp is a Philadelphia-based musical ensemble. Led by Joseph Alpar, the group is devoted to the performance of music of the Middle East and the Balkans with an emphasis on the musical traditions of the Sephardic and Mizrahi Jewish communities. Jews have historically made extraordinary and lasting impacts on the musical life of the communities in which they lived. In turn, they absorbed, and were influenced by, local traditions. It is the fluidity and blending of diverse musical ideas between the Jewish and non-Jewish worlds that this ensemble hopes to communicate to its audiences. In the spirit of peace and friendship, David’s Harp isdedicated to keeping this rich artistic heritage of musical exchange alive.
